Zakaria Haji Ahmad. Zakaria Haji Ahmad is a graduate of the University of Singapore (1970) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1977) where he got a Phd in Political Sciences. From 1978 to 1982, he was head of the Political Science Department of UKM, and from 1983 to 1985, Deputy-Director (Studies) of ISIS. He is currently Head of the Strategic and Security Studies Unit at UKM and since 1988 a consultant for the Malaysian Ministry of Defence.
