Vincent Siew

Vincent Siew was born in 1939 in Chiayi City, Taiwan. Graduated in Laws International Law & Diplomacy from National Chengchi University in 1965. Mr Siew joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1966 before working for the Ministry of Economic Affairs (1972) where he held several positions before being appointed Director General of the Board of Foreign Trade (1988). He became Vice-Chairman of the Council for Economic Planning and Development, Executive Yuan (1988-89) and was appointed Minister of Economic Affairs in 1990 until 1993; Minister of State; Chairman, Council for Economic, Planning and Development, then Minister of State; Chairman of the Mainland Affairs Council in 1994-95. A legislator between 1996 and 1997, Mr Siew served as Premier (1997-May 2000). Mr Siew was elected at the Central Committee of the Kuomintang in 1998 and Vice-President of the party.
