Tsai Ing-Wen

Ms Tsai got her Ph.D at the the London School of Economics & Political Science, University of London (1984). Before that she graduated in Cornell University Law School (1980), and at National Taiwan University (1978).

Until 1993, she held several positions as professor of law in Taiwanese Universities. She was appointed Senior Advisor of the National Security Council (1999–2000), Copyright Commission of the Ministry of Interiors (1997–1999), Member of its Advisory Committee and Fair Trade Commission (1995–1998) Commissioner. Ms Tsai took place in the Drafting/Research Group on the Statute Governing Relations with Hong Kong and Macau (1994 – 1995) as Convenor.

She served as Chief Legal Advisor on International Economic Organizations for the Ministry of Economic Affairs (1992–2000) and was appointed Chairperson of the Mainland Affairs Council in October 2000.
