Sohn Byung-Doo (John))

Born in August 3,1941, John B.D. Sohn graduated in economics from the Seoul National University in 1964. In 1983-1984, he studies at Georgetown University. He gets his Ph.D in Business Management in 1990 from the Hanyang University.

John B.D Sohn joins the Federation of Korean Industries as a researcher in 1966. From 1970 to 1972, he is Manager (System Planning and Advertising) of Joong-Ang, a daily newspaper. In 1972, he joins Samsung Corp. as a Managing Director. In 1981, he joins Cheil Jedang Corp, as Managing Director. After his return from United States, in 1985, he joins the Korea Productivity Center as Executive Director. From 1987 to 1995, he is nonresident Director of Korea Tobacco and Ginseng Corp. In 1988-1991, he is concurrently President of the Dong-Suh Research Institute and nonresident Director of Dong-Suh Securities. In 1994, he becomes President and C.E.O of Dong-Suh Investment Management Co. In 1995, he becomes C.E.O of the Korea Economic Research Institute (affiliated with the Federation of Korean Industries). In 1997, he becomes Executive Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Korean Industries (the chairman is President Kim of the Daewoo Group).
