Manuel F. Montes Dr. Manuel F. Montes was born in December 1949 in Manila. He obtained his B.A. in Economics (1971) at the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines and his Ph.D. in Economics (1981) from Stanford University in California, U.S.A. He served on the faculty of the School of Economics, University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City from 1976 to 1989. During part of that period, he also served as Director for Research at the School of Economics. In 1989, he joined the East-West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He holds an appointment as Senior Fellow (on leave) with the Center. He is currently a Senior Fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) in Singapore. He has been a visiting scholar at the Institute for Developing Economies (IDE) in Tokyo and at the United Nations University/World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU/WIDER) in Helsinki. | |||
