Dato Mohamed Jawhar Hassan, Director-General, ISIS Malaysia, Dato Mohamed Jawhar Hassan served with the government before he joined ISIS as Deputy Director-General in May 1990. He was appointed Director-General of ISIS on 1 March, 1997. His positions in government included Director-General, Department of National Unity; Under-Secretary, Internal Security Division, Ministry of Home Affairs; Director (Analysis) Research Division, Prime Ministerís Department; and Principal Assistant Secretary, National Security Council. He also served as Counsellor in the Malaysian Embassies in Indonesia and Thailand. In ISIS, his special focus is in the fields of international relations, security and nation-building. His other positions are Secretariat CSCAP (Council for Security Cooperation in Asia Pacific), Co-Chair of CSCAP Working Group on Cooperative Security and Comprehensive Security; Vice-Chairman, Malaysian National Committee, Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC); Member, Malaysian CSCAP; Member, Advisory Panel, Institute of Historical Studies, Malaysia; and Member, National Committee for International Affairs, Malaysian Red Crescent Society. He is/was also Project Coordinator, Master Plan on Knowledge Economy., Secretariat, Task Force for People Development in the IT Age, Secretariat, Working Group on E-Sovereignty and Member, Government Study Committee on National Coastguard. see article in Asian Affairs nº16 | |||
