Lee Hun-jai

Born in April 17, 1944, Lee Hun-jai is appointed Chairman of the Financial Supervisory Commission in 1998. He is appointed Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service in 1999.

Lee Hun-jai is a graduate of the College of Law of the Seoul National University (1966) as well as the Boston University (Economics -1981).

He joins the Ministry of Finance in 1970 and is Division Chief in charge of Monetary and Financial Policy of the Finance Bureau in 1971-1973, Senior Planning Officer for Economic Affairs of the Presidential Secretary Office (1973-1974), Director of Financial Policy Division (1974-1978), Director of General Office of Public Finance and Monetary Policy (1978-1979). In 1979, leaving the Ministry of Finance, he joins the Korea Development Institute as a visiting fellow. In 1982, he joins Daewoo Corporation as Chief Assistant to the Chairman. In 1984-1985, he is Executive Managing Director and C.E.O of Daewoo Semiconductor. From 1985 to 1991, he is President and C.E.O of Korea Investors Service. I 1991, he joins the Securities and Exchange Commission as Commissioner. In 1996 he is Research Advisor at the Korea Institute of Public Finance. In 1997 he is appointed Commissioner at the Financial Reform Committee. In December 1997 he is appointed Head of Planning Department at the Joint Presidential Committee on Economic Policies.

Lee Hun-jai is also a member of several Advisory Committees.
