Ravindra Kumar Jain

Born on January 1937, Ravindra Kumar Jain graduated from Lucknow University (B.A in Anthropology) in 1956. He then joined the University as an Assistant Professor (1958-1965). He was a Research Scholar at the Australian University of Canberra where he got a Ph.D. (Anthropology and Sociology) in 1966. From 1966 to 1974, he was a lecturer in Indian Sociology at Oxford University. In 1975, he was an Associate Professor at JNU University, then Professor in 1978. In 1984-1987, he was Visiting Professor at the University of West Indies, Trinidad. In 1992-1994, he was Dean fo the School of Social Sciences at JNU University. In 1994, he was Overseas Research Fellow at the University of Durban, and in 1995-1996, at the University of Canberra.
