Tadashi Iwashita Born on January 1948, Tadashi Iwashita graduated from Tokyo University (B.A in Law). He then joined the Ministry of Finance. In 1974, he completed a post-graduate diploma at Yale University (Administrative Science). In 1976, he is appointed Deputy Director of the Tax Bureau. In 1980, he is appointed Deputy Budget Examiner, Budget Bureau. In 1986, he is appointed Director of the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Finance. In 1987, he is appointed Councillor for Financial Affairs at the Embassy of Japan in Washington. Upon his return, in 1990, he is appointed Budget Examiner at the Ministry, then in 1992, Director for the Research Division of the Banking Bureau. In 1994, he has his first political appointment, being appointed Administrative Secretary to the Prime Ministers Hata and then Murayama. In 1995, he returned to the Ministry as Deputy Vice-Minister for Finance for International Affairs. In 1996, he is Minister for Financial Affairs at the Embassy of Japan in Washington.
